Bruce Melvin Castor, 88, of East Peoria, Illinois, passed away on June 20, 2026. He was born July 20, 1937, in Champaign, Illinois, to Harry Castor and Eva (Cottle) Castor.
Bruce was the proud father of three children: Karen Davis of East Peoria, Illinois, Sandy McDonald of East Peoria, Illinois, and Todd (Jeanne) Castor of Washington, Illinois.
He was previously married for 25 years to Nancy Campbell Schoedel (formerly Castor, the mother of his children.
Bruce had a distinguished 35 year career in advertising and sales, serving as Manager. He worked with WABCO, later known as Komatsu Dresser, where he traveled extensively worldwide. He took great pride in his role and the relationships he built throughout his career.
He is survived by his sister, Linda Chadwick of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his sister, Colleen Rife of Texas, as well as his parents, Harry and Eva Castor, and his grandson, Matt McDonald.
Bruce leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Nikki, Jake, Jeremy, Tyler, Travis, and Austin Bruce, long time companion Janis Wilkens, along with many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Bruce was a gifted athlete throughout his life. He played football and ran track at Washington High School and remained active well into adulthood. He enjoyed weightlifting, running, and competing in Senior Olympics events, including golf, track and field, long jump, and shot put, where he earned multiple medals.
He had a lifelong passion for golf and enjoyed traveling to and playing courses with friends over the years. He also enjoyed attending Bradley University basketball games and Peoria Chiefs baseball games as a season ticket holder.
Bruce was a longtime member of Silver Sneakers at Eastside Centre, where he built lasting friendships and remained committed to fitness and community.
Bruce will be cremated and his ashes will be laid to rest at a later date at Olio Cemetery in Eureka, Illinois, where he will be interred beside his parents.
Bruce will be remembered for his determination, athletic spirit, sense of humor, and the lasting friendships he built throughout his life.
