Gerald “Gerry” Ray Reeder, Jr., 61, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026. Born in Peoria, Illinois, he was the son of Gerald (Loretta) Reeder, Sr. and the late Patricia (Fredrickson) Brooks.
He is survived by his children, Samantha (Aaron) Adami and Zachary (Megan) Reeder; his grandchildren, Austin, Ethan, Charlotte, and Weston; his brother Gary (Dianna) Reeder; and his stepsister Nicci (Michael) Waldschmidt. Gerry shared his life with his partner, Hollie Behrll. His loyalty to those he loved was one of his defining qualities, and he remained devoted to many lifelong friends who stood by him through every chapter of his life.
Gerry built a proud career as a Union Millwright, beginning his work in Peoria before later moving to Lexington, Kentucky, where he ultimately retired. His dedication and work ethic showed in everything he did.
Anyone who knew Gerry knew his heart belonged to the dirt track. As the proud driver of Late Model #65, he found freedom, adrenaline, and community behind the wheel. Beyond racing, Gerry’s happiest moments were gathering with family and friends, laughing, talking, and enjoying the company of those who meant the most to him. When he wasn’t racing or spending time with family and friends he was cheering for his favorite sports teams — including the Kentucky Wildcats.
Gerry’s legacy lives on in the roar of the engines he loved, the love and laughter of those close to him, and the countless memories shared by those fortunate enough to know him.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
