Linda Marie Pates

Linda Marie Pates, 70, Galesburg passed away June 10, 2026. She was born October 18, 1955 to L.M. and Dorothy (Smallwood) Pates in Galesburg, IL.

Linda grew up in 2nd Baptist Church which installed her with deep life-long faith. She graduated from Galesburg Sr. High School.  Linda was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad and moved to California with them, working 1st as a brakeman and moving up to conductor. She devoted much time to bible study with meaningful dialogue. Her greatest love and talent was her sewing and crafting. She was a brilliant seamstress. Linda will be missed and truly remembered for her beautiful smile and loud infectious laugh.

Linda is survived by Linette M. (Adam) Pates-Sharp (niece); Langston M. Pates (Nephew); Jessica E. Pates (niece); Christiana Shea (niece); eight great nieces & nephews & one great great nephew and a slew of cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Lynn M. Pates and John E. Pates.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
