Micheal Lee Shoop

Michael L. Shoop, 75 of Peoria Heights passed away suddenly on June 19 in Peoria, Illinois, at Carle Health Methodist Hospital Emergency Department. He leaves behind two sons, Scott Shoop and Rodney Shoop, both of Peoria Heights, Illinois.

Mike was born on September 29, 1950, in Peoria, Illinois, to Dale and Dorothy (Short) Shoop. After graduating from high school, Mike enlisted in the United States Army. Following his military service, he went on to work at Caterpillar for 30 years.

In the early 1970s, Mike met Dianne, and he took her to the circus. They quickly fell in love and married in 1975. It wasn't long before they welcomed their two sons, Scott and Rodney.

Dianne preceded Mike in death in 2023 after a long illness. He is also preceded in death by his parents. Mike and Dianne enjoyed many years traveling with their boys and later spent as much time camping as they could. Mike loved spending time with his family, especially watching his sons play sports as they were growing up. He was also an avid Cubs fan and especially enjoyed seeing them beat the Cardinals.

Mike will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He touched many hearts throughout his life.

A celebration of life will be held on July 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Mossville Methodist Church in Mossville.
