Lacon

Mitchell Frank, 26, passed away Thursday January 1st, 2026 at his home in Lacon, Illinois from complications of cardiomyopathy.

Mitchell was born on December 18th, 1999 in Peoria, Illinois to David and Lisa (Beachler) Frank. From an early age, he was curious, thoughtful, creative, and full of energy. He had a sharp sense of humor and a beautiful soul.

Mitchell attended Midland High School where he was known for his humor and confidence, yet he was also sensitive and lived life on his own terms. He loved playing football and ran track in middle school and from those teams, he learned the values of friendship and loyalty. His energy and presence drew people to him, and he left a lasting impression on classmates, teachers, and friends alike.

He had a deep love for music, often losing himself in the sounds of his favorite artists like Alice in Chains, Fleetwood Mac, Biggie Smalls, Post Malone, and so many more. He was a true connoisseur of life’s flavors, approaching food with the same passion and curiosity he brought to music. From humble breakfasts to extravagant dinners, he savored every bite and shared his culinary adventures with friends and strangers on social media. Music and food were both ways he celebrated life, finding joy in the smallest details and inviting (sometimes insisting) others join him in that joy.

Mitchell weathered life’s storms with a quiet strength beyond his years. In the fall of 2020, he was diagnosed with acute heart failure and faced a long, difficult medical journey. He endured multiple surgeries and long hospital stays, relying on life-supporting devices as he waited for a transplant. In the years that followed, Mitchell came to learn that his greatest struggle was not only with his heart, but within himself.

Mitchell’s life was a testament to living fully and authentically. He brought laughter to every room, music to every moment, and a sense of loyalty and love that will never be forgotten. Those who knew him will remember his humor, his generous heart, and the meaningful ways he touched the lives of those around him.

He is survived by his parents, David Frank and Lisa Beachler; his stepfather Chris Stewart; his siblings, Angela Frank, David Frank Jr., Andrea (Jason) Smith, Scott (Samantha) Frank, Dylan Frank, and Keegan Stewart; his grandmother, Barbara Beachler; and many friends who will miss his kindness, wit, and steady presence. He was preceded in death by his Grandma and Grandpa Frank, his Grandpa Beachler, and his sister, Jennifer Frank.

Cremation rites have been accorded and his ashes will be spread in the places that meant the most to him. A celebration of Mitchell’s life will be held privately by his family, with details shared with close friends. Though his life was far too short, his warm smile, infectious laughter, and profound love left an indelible mark. Mitchell will be remembered always, not just for the joy he brought into the world, but for the way he made each person who knew him feel seen, valued, and loved.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Emmanuel Amlurag, Dr. Christopher Sparrow, Dr. Barry Clemson, and the entire OSF LVAD, transplant, and CVICU team
