Samuel Joseph Hart

Samuel Joseph Hart, 37, of Hopewell, IL, formerly of Mahomet, passed away on October 2, 2025 at his home. Sam, as he was known by friends and loved ones, was born on June 28, 1988 to John and Dee Ann (Swearingen) Hart in Peoria, IL.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents George (Dorothy) Hart and Joan (George) Spengler, his maternal grandparents Merle and Dorine Swearingen as well as his father John Paul Hart. Sam is survived by his mother Dee Ann Hart; his brother Michael (Priscilla) Hart; and his nephews and niece Adam, Aiden, and Ava Hart all of Mahomet.

Sam loved music - particularly the “Grateful Dead”. In his younger years, he loved playing baseball and hockey. Sam had a spirit for adventure and enjoyed skydiving having jumped out of airplanes over 200 times. He was very good at painting and had a knack for photography.

Sam will always be remembered for the love and affection he showed to his family and friends. The courage he displayed during many years of battling severe depression and mental illness will be admired by those that knew him.
